How Do I Remote Control Another PC/Mac on My LAN?

hey, i have a mac and a pc laptop, and would like to know if there is any kind of LAN remote control software (or something similar) between PCs/Macs rather than having to use something like logmein over the internet (and hence being faster)

On the Windows side, the easy way is to use one of the free VNC programs you can get on the net. I have used both TightVNC and UltraVNC with good results.
Macs have a VNC app built in that should be compatible with either program
